South Front College, in full 360°.

A south-facing academic block, ground plus four floors of classrooms, in terracotta brick with grey concrete frames, green jali panels, two glazed stair towers with timber louvers and a diamond-jali brick wing. On the 5th floor sits the 69 × 40 ft rooftop pavilion: seven posts at 11.5 ft centres and a roof 14 ft high at the front, falling 1.4 ft to 12.6 ft at the back. Spin the building, peel it back floor by floor, walk the rooftop verandah and switch to evening lighting.

01Facade that shades itself

Projecting concrete frames and green jali panels shade the classroom glass from the high south sun, while the brick skin keeps the interiors cool through the afternoon.

02Towers that frame the block

The two glazed stair and lift towers break the 207 ft front into three parts. Their timber louvers filter light into the stairwells and rise one storey above the terrace.

03The 5th floor as a gathering space

Your 69 × 40 ft design becomes a rooftop pavilion for seminars, a cafeteria or events, with a 10 ft verandah facing south over the campus.

04Daylight with V-LITE®

Tick V-LITE skylights to add polycarbonate daylight panels over the rooftop verandah. The same sheets suit covered walkways, the entrance canopy and the terrace.
